Inspired by true events in 1957, Getaran Pertama retold the story of how Ahmad Merican and Tony Fonseka rallied to form a Malayan choir for the nation’s first Independence Day.

Using mixed reality, the campaign brought Tony Fonseka back as a holographic conductor in 2019, symbolically passing the baton to a new generation to sing the national anthem together.

The innovative storytelling captured the spirit of Merdeka in a way that felt both nostalgic and modern. Within a week, the film garnered nearly 10 million views and over 600,000 engagements. It was voted one of A+M’s Top 10 Merdeka videos, generated more than RM5 million in free PR, and picked up top honours across multiple creative industry awards, proving that history, when retold with imagination, can unite Malaysians all over again.
